Geoff Lister was appointed Chairman of the Cross-Industry Apprentice ship Task Force in 2007. He has spent the majority of his career in the construction industry at an entrepreneurial level and his companies have consistently trained apprentices. He is a member of the ConstructionSkills Board and Training Committee and is a Governor of Leeds College of Building. He was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building in 2008.
